Reporting to the Digital Director, the Digital Content Creator will play a key role in shaping how a progressive elected office connects with the community online. We’re looking for storytellers who thrive in fast-paced environments, can capture moments as they unfold, and bring creativity and authenticity to every piece of content. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about using digital media to engage diverse communities in meaningful ways.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Storytelling

Capture compelling photos and video at events, meetings, and in the community that showcase the work of the office.

Develop fresh, creative content that highlights achievements, policies, initiatives, and voices in an engaging way.

Ensure content reflects the values of the office and the diversity of our communities.
Editing & Publishing

Edit stills and video quickly and effectively — often on the go, using mobile tools — to meet the speed of the moment.

Package content for posting across social platforms and the office’s website.

Ensure high-quality production that balances creativity with professionalism.
Social Media Engagement

Post content to official social channels, ensuring alignment with the office’s brand identity.

Write engaging copy, captions, and headlines that connect with diverse audiences.

Monitor engagement and adapt content to maximize reach and impact.
Collaboration & Innovation

Work closely with the digital and communications team to brainstorm and execute new creative approaches.

Stay on top of digital trends, memes, and cultural moments to keep content fresh and relatable.

Contribute ideas that push creative boundaries while staying true to the office’s vision and brand.
Qualifications & Experience

3+ years of professional experience in content creation, journalism, digital media, or related fields.

Proven ability to shoot both still photography and video, with a strong eye for storytelling and composition.

Skilled at editing directly on a phone (iOS/Android apps, social editing tools) and producing content that’s ready to post.

Demonstrated experience posting to social media platforms in real time, with knowledge of best practices for reach and engagement.

Strong writing and captioning skills, with the ability to adapt tone and voice to fit platforms and audience.

Creative thinker with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deliver quickly under pressure.

Commitment to equity and inclusion, and an enthusiasm for using digital storytelling to advance social change.

Position & Compensation
This is an exempt, at-will position. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Includes comprehensive healthcare, retirement benefits, and paid time off. We are an in-person team and value collaboration in our Los Angeles-based office. This role is not remote.
